The 2016 Wings Over Water birding festival is excited to offer a new field trip this year to Reifel Bird Sanctuary located in Delta, B.C., a short bus ride away from the event center.

During the month of March this eBird hotspot shows 139 species seen over the last 10 years.  It's not uncommon for a group to see at least 50 of these on a given day. The sanctuary boasts an impressive 263 species recorded here.

A place for the serious birder  and casual observers both.  Wide, level packed gravel or dirt trails go through wooded areas, open fields, and around numerous ponds. Blinds, viewing platforms and a tower assist with better viewing.

"Reifel is one of my favorite place to bird year round. What sets it apart from other areas I visit to bird are the shear numbers, close proximity and impressive tally of species that can be seen.  Also, it's an easy place to bird. If I'm bringing someone with a mild interest in birding, being able to have chickadees or Red-winged Blackbirds eat seed out of their hand is very special.  However, there is an abundance of local, seasonal and rarities coming and going throughout the year to keep even the most experienced interested.  Stop, look, listen ... so much to see."  - Eric Ellingson

With a picture worth a thousand words I'll let photos from flickr tell a much bigger story. (here).
